The prayer wheel is got going (circulation direction of the earth around the sun) clockwise, at this the drum is turned by the weight around the axis. Supporters of the Bön religion shift in the opposite direction.
Every turn recites the Mantra "Om mani padme hum" which many times stands on the prayer role within the drum.
